Softer than Cashmere and Stronger than Wool
When the temperature drops outside, there's nothing better than cuddling up under a soft and warm throw blanket. Peruvian Alpaca is one of the most luxurious fibers in the world - what better to snuggle up with? Atlanta based interior designer, Alejandra Dunphy, has a created an amazing collection of rugs, pillows, and throws.
She uses Peruvian Alpaca, organic cotton and Merino wool as the foundation of each product. These materials are among some of the finest fibers in the world and are natural and organic. Alejandra's throws are soft and luxurious, while also allowing for a healthier home and planet. Her original, handcrafted designs are made using ancient Peruvian weaving techniques. The colors are vibrant and the designs are fresh and exciting. What Makes It Green?
Natural Peruvian Alpaca, organic cotton and Merino wool are all free of harmful chemicals and colored with natural dyes. This natural and chemical free craftsmanship ensures that there is no toxic off gassing from these throws. Alpaca and wool are sustainable products because they are sheared. Additionally, Alpaca fiber is hypoallergenic and lanolin free. Finally, these beautiful throws are made by women in a Peruvian cooperative, which supports fair trade and promotes environmental conscientiousness.
What You Can Do
Conventional cotton production uses more chemicals per unit area than any other crop and accounts in total for 16% of the world's pesticides.
My daughter has a "blankie" that she cuddles with. Well, I think I've found my "blankie". These blankets are so deliciously soft, I just want to wrap up in them no matter what time of year it is. You can find out more at www.alejandradunphy.com.
